Features
It was 1987 when the idea of producing a different wine from the Friulian tradition of the time was born among the vineyards of Torre Rosazza. From this need Altromerlot was born, probably the first Friulian wine to be aged for a long time in French oak barrels, "another" from the merlot that could be tasted at that time. Twenty years later, the Altromerlot has become an undisputed standard of elegance and still remains "another" as a sign of special attention, without compromise and without interruptions that comes from the vineyard to the table.
winemaking
The grapes, harvested strictly by hand with selection in the plant, are de-stemmed and placed in steel tanks at a controlled temperature, where musts and skins remain in contact for 8/10 days. Complete malolactic fermentation follows and then a long aging in Allier oak barrels, which lasts for at least 24 months.
The wine
Intense and lively ruby red. On the nose it spreads in delicate aromas of small red berries and blueberries, to then recall hints of moss and wood. The lineage of the wine is immediately perceived in the mouth, of which elegance is the most obvious attribute. It fills the palate with its softness and recalls the red fruit jam, and then evolves into discreet hints of wood. Long persistence.
Pairings
Great versatility on the table: despite being a wine with a remarkable structure, it is able to combine even with light and elegant dishes for its marked elegance. It goes well with both tasty soups, legume soups, but also tasty meats like roasts, veal shank, mixed grills.
