Features
Vine originating from Friuli, with an ancient tradition documented starting from 1300, it was abandoned in recent decades in favor of less avaricious and inconsistent international vines. From a few shoots recovered among the vineyards of the Rosazzo Abbey, the Colli Orientali del Friuli were repopulated with this noble vine, capable of giving wines of great character and typicality.
winemaking
The grapes, harvested strictly by hand with selection in the plant, are de-stemmed and placed in steel tanks at a controlled temperature, where musts and skins remain in contact for 8/10 days. Complete malolactic fermentation follows and then a long aging in Allier oak barrels, which lasts for at least 24 months.
The wine
Ruby red with subtle purple hues. The nose is very complex with spicy tones, sacristy wood, incense, and ripe marasca cherry. In the mouth the lineage of the wine is immediately perceived: balsamic and spicy with a strong but soft tannins. Very persistent.
Pairings
Great versatility on the table: despite being a wine with a remarkable structure, it is able to combine even with light and elegant dishes for its marked elegance. It goes well with both tasty soups, legume soups, but also tasty meats like roasts, veal shank, mixed grills.
