A new wine from winery Velenosi from the Marche. First vintage was bottled in 2014. Nice red wine made from 100% Montepulciano grapes. The wine is beautiful ruby red in color with light garnet reflections. Intense and characteristic bouquet, with notes of vanilla, red fruit and herbs. Delicious taste with very harmonious notes of currant, tobacco, licorice, cinnamon and nutmeg. Persistent, warm and full taste. Lively wine with a nice character. The grapes for this wine come from the own vineyards of winery Velenosi. These vineyards are located in the municipality of Bergamo and have mainly clay-limiting clay soils. The average height of the vineyards is 200-300 meters above sea level. The grapes are harvested by hand mid-October, in the early morning or late afternoon, and then placed in small trays and stored in cold cells before being taken to the winery. Once de-frosted, the grapes are transferred to cylindrical fermenters "Gioiello" where they are gently pressed. This type of barrels also facilitates the movements during the fermentation. This system ensures better and more uniform contact between must and peel, which increases the extraction of polyphenols. Maceration up to 25-30 days. After fermentation, the wine is transferred to new barriques, where it ages for about 12 months. Nice wine with game dishes, beef and lamb. Also delicious with pasta's Parmesan cheese. Angela and Ercole Velenosi have been active in viticulture for years. In 1984 they made their dream come true: they bought these beautifully situated plots in the Marche and make there both white and red wines, marked by their authenticity and character. The Rosso Piceno is one of the most produced wines in the Marche. This mix of Montepulciano and Sangiovese grapes is good and affordable, and therefore so popular. In the Marche region, North and South Italy come together and this also applies to this Brecciarolo by Velenosi. Order Velenosi wines online at Grandcru
